My Lurcher is 9 mth old now, hes my first dog so I any advice is much appreciated.
What can we give him thats safe and long lasting. He has a Kong with cheese spread in it but its gone in seconds, the chews that took him ages to get through are gone in about 10 mins now. Its mainly for when we leave him alone to try to occupy him for a while.

Have you tried freezing the food in his kong, it will last longer than when soft.
Also, of course more importantly, wear him out b4 leaving him, a tired dog is more content than an active one, that munches through treats in a second flat.

Or butchers bones, the humungus ones, the size of half a cows leg, raw of course, as cooked will splinter, this way he cannot eat through the bone, but will lick the marrow out.

Thanks Cala.
Hes hard to tire out as being an only dog he only seems to mooch arround on his walks. Hubbys now pulled a muscle in his leg from running with him in his wellies!

so its walk only for a while. Its a different story when he's at the stables with his pals, they play and stalk each other for hours, running arround like mad ens.
What do you freeze in a Kong?

OH does them, he stuffed fish, cheese, some of their dog food

, I have just ordered one, for my pointer, he runs and runs and runs, and I want to see if a back pack, will wear him out quicker

Does he not play with toys? Leave him lots of toys as well as the treats and he should be quite content. Also I agree with the idea of the large bone.
You could throw a toy for him while you walk or if that doesn't work, what about riding a bike so that he has to run to keep up?
