My bobbo has a french lin bit in and running martingale. She is 17.3hh and knows her strength, took her out on sunday for ride in woods an couldnt pull her up. When i did and got back to box noticed her mouth was cut on left side but not right she cant have bit her lip as she has a grackle on but i dont understand how she does it. This happens every time we ride regardless of whether we walk along roads or canter through woods. Please any suggestions on what to do? !!!
Need Help asap as hunting in 2 weeks with south notts.

I was always taught that its better to use a strong bit lightly than to haul on a mild one.
Try a double and only pick up the curb rein if she tries to tank off. Obviously test the ground with this before you go out for a while- as with any bit change.....

Have you checked that the bit has no sharp edges appearing... also is it a loose ring that could have turned and pinched her lip???

You could try a three ring gag and ride off the snaffle ring, only using the second rein as an emergency brake.

Wouldnt dream of hunting a horse who is so rude out hacking though, you will be amazed how much more fried her brain will be with all the other horses etc!!!
