Long range forecast anyone?

I was looking last week, trying see when I could book some time off work to for extra riding days! even up until May its not looking promising! the bank holidays were looking to only be up to about 9-10 degrees! WTF! soo different to last year when summer started in Feb! though I don't want another hot and dry year like last year!

can we just have the rain and sun in moderation for once!

Not too worried about it being a bit cooler, just need dry so horses can change fields and stay out!!

Ok, it’s going to get warmer in 2 weeks time. From then on till the end of the year the weather is going to be bang on average and only ever rain overnight.
I don't tend to pay much attention to long range forecasts, as they change all the time!
Absolutely, so might as well have an inspiring forecast as any forecast is going to be wrong!

Lovely afternoon in the garden yesterday - back to lashing wind and rain this morniing - from the East which is not so usual here. So sick of this winter now.
Sounds like you were very lucky yesterday! Although there are plenty of bulbs up, and all this wet has certainly greened up the grass, post-drought.
We’ve fog, sleet and fierce east wind, which is the killer.
Whatever is altering about climates, most parts of UK have had westerly as the prevailing winds for pretty much as long as records go, with most buildings, certainly older farms, barns, stabling etc, constructed against this. Much foliage, trees, hedges etc are similar.
Last spring: over two months solid of very cold, easterly weather, most unusual, untold damage to growth coupled with less rain.
We had more than typical east weather last autumn, but since new year, non-stop east, south east, north east (very occasional south and north winds for maybe a few hours) but nothing from the ‘prevailing’ direction at all, including all the named storms. Extraordinary.
Needless to say, the chill factor and inability to completely re direct all doors, ventilation etc, are wreaking havoc in lots of yards, plus increased need for fodder and bedding, already short everywhere.
And if someone could explain how several hours of 40mph winds early this morning is compatible with continued fog (and stinging sleet)?
Actually, just noticed it’s now completely covered with driving, wet snow, but still can’t see across the yard.
Miserable.

My friend and I went out on our postponed due to weather (fog, ice - the works) ride yesterday and it was brilliant. I was actually warm!

This morning though I have a stream across my winter field that the horses are paddling through. Its the supposedly underground stream that usually we can only see in the summer fields when the water table is high. Its so high that the stream is now streaming literally everywhere.

I'm hiding at home muttering 'living the dream' under my breath again.

I daren't look at the forecast because it changes by the hour
