My 22 year old pony has recently been diagnosed with Cushings and is also recovering from a check ligament injury- we have just started walking and I am hoping to do a mix of riding and long reining.
Does anyone have any suggestions for aids I can use when long reining to help build top line? Unfortunately due to being out of work for a while (ligament injury) and the cushings he has a lot of muscle wastage over his back.
I will of course start with no aids until he is a little fitter but whilst I can only walk I still want to try and help him as much as possible- I equally don’t want to cause more issues than I am solving which I appreciate many aids can do so don’t want anything too harsh etc. or wondering if I’m better to just try and get him working properly…
Many thanks
