Long reining a Shetland

Can anyone recommend a good book on this please, post laminitic pony in need of work and as I am rather too big for him and lunging at walk till he is fitter is pretty dull for both of us, I think long reining is the way to go. Got the kit but need some guidance. Thanks

If it's just for exercise then start by adding the second rein while lunging, when he is used to lunging on two reins you can gradually change your position so you are driving, rather than lunging, from there you are good to go!

Thanks he has the basics as he was driven in a previous life (till he blotted his copybook which is why he now lives with me). It me that's needs help!

Have you got tack for him? I you have a little saddle or roller make sure the lines can run easily through the roller or if using stirrups, tie them together underneath him with something, so they don't bounce around. If he's been driven it will be a piece of cake!
