In order to help my lad build up some topline I'm doing a lot of lunging and hacking at the moment and also wanted to introduce some long lining as my boy has a habit of hanging on the lunge so I want to have a contact on both reins.
I've attempted it (unsuccessfully) in the past and had a lesson last night from my Y/O.
I know I'll need to practice but I was using 2 lunge lines and I really struggled with so much line still in each hand and kept giving away the reins.
Any tips for avoiding this/making this a bit easier? Is it worth getting some shorter lines/proper long lines or will lunges work well enough?
Planning to take him out into the forest tracks tomorrow - luckily, he's been broken to drive and actually works well with you walking behind him - it's just the circle & changes of gait and direction in the arena that we're struggling with!
