Both long rein fine, one in a bridle and one in a head collar. I'm going to be using surcingles and cruppers and will probably buy driving reins. As there isn't a carriage pole the only connection is the reins I'm wondering if this is ok as I can't think of any way to keep them together! I have driven a pair in the distant past so I'm ok with the reins etc. There is no great agenda, they won't be going any further with driving, I just thought it would be something quite entertaining for them. They are mini Shetland by the way, I wouldn't have a go with 16hh gelderlanders! ? Any ideas gratefully received.

Yes, this is rara's I think she connects them in front off the breast collars still but can get her to confirm.

Put a strap between the breast collars. You can also connect breeching dees if you like, but in practice that's not usually necessary, as they tend to straighten out by going forwards.

I did it on my own, but depends how confident you are with the ponies, and long reining generally. I would have thought much easier with a friend, or even two. Best of luck!
