long reining

Ive had my horse now for 4 years so im not a total novice but I've never had to long rein and I have a youngster our of my horse that will soon be going through some training, im still learning ready for when the moment come but;
What gear do I need?
And what are the basic rules?

Are there any yards near you which back youngsters? Maybe book a long reigning lesson i would suggest with your youngster, then he learns what to do under the eye of someone experienced, and so do you -its a win win situation. That's what I did with my youngster!
