Does anyone have any recommendations for long riding boots for someone with short legs? I'm 5'6'' but i have fairly short legs and most long boots dig into the back of my knee when i ride. Does anyone else have this problem? I've had my current pair for a good 6/7 years but really need a new pair to compete in next year as they are now falling apart! Any ideas Pleeeeease :D

I'd love any tips too! I am short only 5ft and definitely short legs:)
I wear half chaps cos of the digging in back of knee thing but would love a smart pair of long boots without breaking the bank.
I guess made to measure leather would do it........ a dream!

I can help :D hopefully

Have you tried

Mountain Horse Richmond High Rider
Mountain Horse Supreme High Rider

These are around £250 but really good boots

I am 5ft1 and couldnt get anything to fit, I went to Ingatestone Saddlery and found a pair :D they did dig in the start with, but I wore them at home for 2 weeks and let them stretch a bit and all was perfect when i first got on.

Thanks.

You could also try heel risers in some boots that are a touch too long. Although I have pretty long legs myself, I had some in bargain boots that were a bit too long; heel risers basically make your legs a couple of cms longer - that way you are not in too much discomfort until the boots soften a bit. I don't see why you couldn't wear them all the time either - they were fine (made of soft stuff, so quite comfy) and only cost a few £s. That way you could get any old cheap pair of boots, lol!

Me too!

I've had ariat short boots and matching gaiters in the past, which worked quite well as a solution. They are smart enough for competitions, clinics etc.

I did eventually want a pair of long boots though. I now have a pair of Just Toggs Essentials for everyday use, which only cost about £40.

I also have a pair of Broginis for times when I need to look smart. They do a £150 version as well as the more expensive ones. I gt the regular length rather than the short though, and while they are fine for dressage and look very elegant, they are too long for me to comfortably ride in at jumping length. But like I said I think there is a short version.

Hope that helps!

i am doubly cursed as have short and fat calves :(
i wear sarm hippiques for competing. they are £££ but so comfy and look great so if you look after them well worth the money :)
in terms of normal yard boots mountain horse have a pretty good range of sizes and also just bought some sherwood forest dalton boots and very impressed with them :)

Equitector have all different widths and heights available. Great boots i've had mine for ages are good as keep feet fairly cool in summer and keep what little heat about in during winter. Also have steel toes caps. I just use these for competing and now they are actually too short, which is a doesnt often happen seen as im only 5ft 1in. Maybe not the most elegant boots but fab anyway.
