How do you prefer yours?

I have 1 pair of wide size 8's that are now toooo big and lose and they slide down and I HATE it. I have now (upon buying her new ones) inherited my sisters size 6.5" Normal width boots and I must say that although they are tight I do prefer them as the do not slouch at the ankle or, like my big ones, get the stirrup leather down them (that happens often)

Also, and this is weird, I feel better wearing them - I don't know if this has something to do with the developing varicous veins on my left leg, but I just in general feel better - clearer head, and I reckon its cos of them being tight.

So what does everyone else prefer? Am I weird in that I like tight riding boots?

Not so tight they stop the blood supply to my toes/ankles but not loose either - think I can get 1 finger (just) down mine at the top

I have two pairs of wide size 8's too that I can't wear anymore as I lost weight and they flap about on me. I like 'em tight on me and I prefer the foot width to be narrowish (even though I have medium width feet) as they feel supportive to me. The feet on my two wide leg boots are wide as well as manufacturers seems to think if you are a woman with wide calves, then you must have wide feet too (not true!)!!

I have problems with my back and hip where the pain shoots down the outside of my right leg so having tight legged boots with narrow feet, really support my leg when it's acting up.

I was SO LUCKY last month with my local saddler as she sells second hand tack and she got in a pair of long field boots that had been custom made to fit a long skinny bloke but then he got out of riding and sold off all his tack. I tried them on and they fit perfectly, the calf is tight and although the feet are a 9, he had very narrow feet so they feel alright. Needless to say, I bought 'em and wear them everyday to ride in!

I have a wide pair and a tight pair - I found that the wide pair kept sliding off during work without stirrups
