Anyone live in Winterslow fancy having a companion to ride out with occasionally? Hopefully (fingers firmly crossed) moving to a yard in Pitton in the not too distant future, but still looking for someone to ride out with sometimes. My new horse is a 5 year old han/TB and although sensible and quiet, he lacks confidence riding out alone and is happier in company. He is pretty unfit and as I am intending to hunt this season, I need to fitten him up and it would be nice to do the fittening work with some company! Both of us are fairly inoffensive, and both of us would be very grateful for the company (although on balance I think I would be the most grateful, people give you funny looks when you hold an animated and lengthy conversation with your horse, and invent the horses dialogue to suit - apparently this is classed as sub-nomal in my village and makes the locals tut).

Sorry, can't help with the companion part but I don't see anything wrong with holding a lengthy conversation with your horse!!

It's only ever a problem if anyone's in earshot. Which has happened to me on a couple of occasions, usually when I'm saying things like 'Mummy was really pleased with you today, I hope you enjoyed that canter as much as mummy did!'

I thought i was the only nut that conversed with my pony! I always tell him where were going and whats coming up!!
If i was closer i would ride out with you, my horse is a fantastic chaperone, many youngsters owe there bombproofness to him!!
