Has anyone hired a trailer for a season rather than buy one?

I am thinking of doing this for the winter & the prices look quite reasonable.

Anyone know of any things I need to worry about / be careful of?

I don't know what the hire prices are like but I would have thought you would have been better buying one then selling it in spring?

I should be careful when hiring a trailer as it might have been stolen - we hired one and it had been stolen!! It was several years ago, but the guy we hired the trailer from was "known to the police".

We inadvertently left our (portable) number plate on the trailer and were subsequently contacted by the police......I need say no more.

Be aware.

Me! I hired one for the summer season picked it up in April and taking back 4th October. I got quite a good deal as well (about £250 off initial advertised price) as not so many people were hiring this year - credit crunch probably. I haven't used it as much as I'd have liked as Horse decided to snap a tooth and then damage his hind suspensories, however it's been handy to take him back and forward to the vets! Yesterday I filled it up with shavings and until I need to use it for another vet trip, it'll be a storage area.

I'm definately thinking about keeping it over the winter assuming pony gets well enough but if not will take one again next summer.

Where are you based? This is the guy I hired from - http://www.equilogical.co.uk/

Although based in North Yorkshire, I believe he'll drop off for long term hires near Northampton. The trailer I have is about 3 years old and is in extremely good condition. He advertised on ebay too.

PM me if you want more info.

I was looking at this last night actually. I found one place which would do a summer season april-october for £750 and winter season for £550.
