I went to Longwood today with the intention of doing the BN (class 5) and then possibly the Disco (class 6). It said on the schedule that class 4 (90cms amateur) wouldnt start before noon, so i thought i would arrive at 1pm for class 5 with the intention of waiting around!
Got there at 12.50pm and they were on the last entry in the jump off of class 4!!
So quickly did my entry for class 5, and whizzed to tack up. They then speedily built the course and by the time i had tacked up they were already on the first competitor, so didnt get to walk the course. Thinking i would just watch a few, i then found out that there were only 3 entries for the class and one was HC!!!
So had to literally mount, didnt even get a practise jump and i was called straight in - they wouldnt give me any more time!! needless to say, i managed to get round to jump 7 and then got lost and didnt have a clue were the rest of the jumps were so was eliminated!!
They then cancelled the Disco as there were no entried - such a shame to put on a show and have no one turn up...all i could think on was that Norton Heath was on?
Made the most of it being quiet though and managed to have the arena for 20 mins to practise jumping the course....was really valuable as i dont have access to jumps that often.
Would the girl that won it have been given prize money do you think? Lol, funny to think that she was only horse eligible to actually win the classs!!
