I can't believe it has been one year since i last saw you,
I hope you are looking down at me.
Guess who is 4 in a month, hasn't that gone fast.
I still think about you all the time.
I still love you and miss you.
Lots of love

When i first saw the balloon up against the fence i thought, arghhh get it before horses see it. Then i saw the note and it made me cry, i think it's maybe their mummy who's missing her dad, i know how she feels even after 25 years.

The balloon was almost totally deflated and i let the remainder of the air out before i saw the message,
what shall i do with it now, has it finished its journey, it seems wrong to put it in the bin?

Oh how sad is that. I dont know what I would do with it either. Could you tie it somewhere lovely, perhaps a tree or something and then let the weather take it?

sounds like its done the job it was sent into the sky to do, so think i'd just put it in the bin, the end has no significance to the person who sent it.

Oh, that's so sweet! Any chance you can reinflate it and let it go again?

No chance I'm affraid, I put a hole in it

I would let it go again, but attatch a note, something like

I found this balloon on 09/12/09, re-inflated it, and sent it on its journey...I hope you do to.

Having failed to come up with any better options, I'd probably put it in the bin too. Hopefully it will have done its job and brought some comfort to the person who sent it.

tunbridge wells had a parade for troops coming home and couple of days later a heart shaped balloon found its way through parks of horse freaking them all out i was so mad! till i seen it had pic of a soldier who DIA i felt guilty but i had to bin it as it was ripped and wouldn't of flown anymore

Definately (sp) get another balloon and add to the original note then send it on it's way again. Couldn't bin it i'd feel too guilty.

Sorry, but another vote for bin it.

It's done its job, and the problem with helium balloons is that they end up as pollution, whatever their initial intention.

Many balloons end up in the sea and kill marine life such as turtles, which sadly are stupid enough to eat them, apparently

Oh blimey, I'm confused now, easily done though

How about putting the balloon in the bin, then bury the little card somewhere nice, maybe under a tree or pretty bush, where it will take its message into the earth.

I used to work for a big charity and we did a massive balloon launch in London once, and then we had several irate letters from people saying that balloons were killing off marine life, so I have never released one since. My halo shineth!

I think that's a nice idea, we'll do that, thanks

The idea of sending it on it's way again is nice, but the end result is of no importance to the sender, the act of sending it was the important thing. In the intereste of pollution I would bin the balloon, and, if you feel it's right, bury the card somewhere nice where it can gently rot away.

Just to let you know we have thrown the balloon in the bin and buried the note where it landed, by the fence in the orchard.

Thank you all for your help, thanks to you I’ve sorted it.

RIP Jodie, Shane and Jamie’s Grandad x
