My dog has split one of her pads

The vet has stapled it in two places

She has a vetwrap bandage on that is supposed to stay on until Tuesday

It will then be changed at intervals until the staples come out in 10 days time. The vet has given me an improvised boot made from a saline drip bag, that I have to tie on when she goes outdoors for calls of nature. Um, this is so not going to work, we are talking springer spaniel here!

Has anyone got any inspired ideas how I can keep this bandage clean and in place, especially when she has to go outside? My poor soldier is also fed up she can't scratch her ear!

When my dog cut his paws we cut up a black bag and doubled it over then stuck some gaffa tape round it and then put one of my little boys wellie socks over it, worked great, some balck bags tend to be a little stronger than carrier bags. Good luck!

You can buy a doggie boot for around £6! Most pet shops have them!

surprised the vet doesn't have any forsale-out vets have a whole shelf of these kinds of things!

Good luck

A doggie boot! That's just what I need. The vet certainly doesn't have them - you don't think they would have missed an opportunity to SELL me something, do you?

I let her out yesterday without anything over the vetwrap as it wasn't too wet outside, but I think some muck got through as when the dressing was changed today it was a bit soiled underneath, and the vet has put more bandage on this time.

The drip bag clattering round the garden scares the living daylights out of my other dog!!
