Hello,

I am thinking of moving my Pony Roisty (Welsh Sec C Gelding, 13.2hh), from a Livery yard with a Full sized Dressage arena, to a Competition/Eventing Yard, preferably North Bristol, around the Winterbourne, Yate and Pucklechurch area. I have had a look at various Yards, such as Leylandcourt, but they don't offer Assisted DIY. The reason I am thinking about moving yards, is because the lack of facilities my current Yard offers, as I am starting to get into competing more in Area 12, and other various competitions that would require an On-site XC course, Floodlit Outdoor Arena with Full-set Show Jumps and hopefully a Dressage arena. I was also hoping that there would be Pony Paddock grazing, as I would prefer my Pony not to be with a herd of Horses.

Thank you, Roisty09. :)

Alice & Alex Peternell's place in Hinton is lovely. They have an indoor and a full length outdoor plus horsewalker, and do assisted DIY. The hacking from there is good too, but I don't think they have a xc course, and there's no winter turnout.

Indoors around bristol seem to be like hen's teeth!

Hinton is the only yard that spring to mind however they do not offer winter turnout which can be a big turn off, depends on what you want from a yard.

Towards Yate you have castle farm, not a 'competition yard' but it does have an outdoor arena (although not a huge one to fit a full course in) and XC course and offers a variety of different livery types.

You really don't need that stuff to compete. If you want it, and can afford it, that's great, but it's not essential.

No winter turnout at all would be a deal-breaker for me. I can't think of any yards in the area you're suggesting which have all the things you want.

The only place I can think of with everything you want is Billow Farm - but the trade off is that you'd have to travel a lot further as it is off J14 of the M5 nr Berkeley.
