Looking more towards summer here, and looking to try and find the near impossible!

I am looking for a complete feed that doesnt contain molasses, and can be fed at a rate of approx 1kg per feed, to supply all vits+mins, and some energy/protein etc.

So far I have come up with Allen and Page Power and Performance, or Primero Total Holistic Feeds.

The A+P works out a lot cheaper than the other feed. I am not looking for a balancer, due to different people feeding my horse, sometimes horse gets an extra sneaky feed, I don't want her eating too much expensive balancer!

PS I dont want to use grass nuts.

I saw a post on Facebook forum about a feed called Shape Up I think it's from Saracen that is mix but you only feed it at a low rate. But don't know if it's molasses free.
I also think Dengie have a complte unmolassed feed.

Hi Wench can I ask why you only want to feed 1kg a day of hard feed to your horse.

I understand that a horse or pony needs to eat 1% of its body weight a day to maintain condition, muscle function, energy and to provide the nutrients for health.

I have looked now at the Dengie feed Good Door and it is complte feed but with high feeding rate. The Saracen shape Up is half balancer half mix low calorie feed and can be fed at a low rate.
I hope this helps.

Just had a look at the websites the Saracen Shape up you can feed 1kg a day for a 500kg hores and the Good Door is 1.5/2.5 kg a day for a 500kg.

.

Few reasons, but the main one is time. Don't get to the horse until fairly late after work, and I quite simply haven't got time for horse to munch his way through 2kg of pure feeds that he's on ATM.

Have a look at St.hippolyt equigard or struktur-e. I've ised the equigard all winter with some struktur-e for condition and now the equigard on it's own now we have spring grass and it's amazing. I feed 1kg a day which is approx 1 round Stubbs scoop a day. Really reall recommend it and it's not expensive either because you feed so little.

Why not go for a supplement for all of your vits and mins and the some fibre like speedibeet for some bulk and linseed for protein / condition if needed?

Have a chat with John Chapham at Graven Horse Feeds - he might very well have the product that you need.

^^^^ agree with this, why not use a basic base feed like speedibeet or such like and as a powered balancer like equimins advance complete which is very high spec and a bit of linseed
