Hi, I am looking for a second hand chassis cab for a horse lorry and would appreciate some advice, my budget approx £2000/£2500, I'm looking for a DAF 45/150 ideally.

Firstly, could someone give me some advice on what year I could purchase for my budget.

Does anyone know of a good source in Northern Ireland for chassis? i would be prepared to go down south if necessary but the nearer to Belfast the better.

Also would anyone know of any online sources beyond auto trader to check prices etc?

Finally, It's been suggested that i get a 10 ton chassis and downgrade it to 7.5 tons as it will give me a more robust lorry, better brakes etc. If anyone has any experience of this could you tell me if i need an HGV license for a downrated chassis and if it's worth the work, should i just stick with a 7.5 ton lorry instead?

Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

I know I'm a daft old bat, but every time I've looked at the forum today, my brain has read: 'looking for a deaf chassis'...

Sorry pointless post and I think it's time for the men in white coats..

What is the point of buying such a cheap chassis? - i never understand why folks put an all singing all dancing body onto an old chassis - when thats the thing that is carrying you, your horse and gets you their and back
