Hi, I have cross posted this in the regional board for the South West as I'm not sure where it should go - I am new to this forum!!
I used to own horses a long time ago but since then have got married and had 2 children. Now the children are older my love of horses is being rekindled and I am looking for a nice horse to ride - I'm looking for during the week only. I am an experienced rider but really enjoy hacking - my previous horse, an Anglo Arab, severely dented my confidence by rearing up in front of a car with me on his back. I have been riding a fair bit since then and my confidence is back to how it was before.
I am looking for a safe horse that doesn't bolt/buck/rear or anything like that. I don't want to go zooming all over the countryside, but would love to be able to have a nice canter when out on a hack and not worry about it! Obviously the horse needs to be good in traffic. I'd like to ride in company as, to me, part of the fun of riding is meeting other people too. I've chosen the areas above as I'd love to be able to hack around Badminton way. I am more than happy to muck out or do any chores when I ride but, due to family commitments, am only able to attend to the horse in the morning (after the morning school run). As I said above, I'm looking to ride during the week as I tend to do things with the family on weekends and can probably ride 2 mornings a week. I work from home so am able to juggle my day to suit what I have planned which definitely helps.
As regards size, I am fairly tall (5'9) and weigh just under 12 stone but that weight is coming off slowly but surely the more riding I do. I have successfully ridden cobby 14.2s as the horse takes up the length of my leg if you know what I mean!
If anyone knows of any horse suitable please bear me in mind - I look forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks.
Ali
