Hello everyone.
I am hoping all you knowledgable people may be able to help me find a well bred KC registered staffordshire bull terrier.
We are shortly due to be completing on our new house and can finally have a dog again.

I have had staffords in the past, both a rescue and a pup so am familiar with the breed and would like one again.

I have done the usual of looking at litters available on KC website but every single one is over bred double dilute, for generation back, Blues.
This is not something I want, as it exacerbates skin problems and allergies in a breed already known for them, so although KC registered these pups are not well bred, or sympathetically bred to improve the breed. They are just money makers.
I went on Champ dogs and although they have some gorgeous black (my preferred colour) and dark brindle (my second choice) they are highly inbred, one litter had a coi of 30.4% and other the high teens. I don't want anything with a COI over 9.

So onto my question - if anyone knows of any well bred, not inbred and not blue pups that have just been born, or due to be born so will be available late May onwards please can you point me in the direction of the breeder.
I am happy to talk to them about my set up, the land, what I'll be doing with pup etc. And would be happy for breeder to do home visit once I've moved if they would like

Many thanks

30% co-efficient? That’s crazy, it’s not as if there’s a tiny gene pool! This must mean there’s a dearth of KC registered, I’m not amazed given the popularity of the breed, but it’s very disappointing.

There is quite a few fb groups for breed clubs some of which could be near you. Staffs are so hard to find a good one - some of the show types almost look like pugs they’re so overbred, then some look like bulldogs. it’s very sad to see. There are some beautiful examples in my town a fella likes to breed them but it would be too far and they’re mostly red.

30% COI is unbelievable, I don't know much about staffies but didn't think it would be that high given they are a popular breed

Unfortunately KC reg is not a guarantee of well bred pups, even from assured breeders. I would contact a breed club and ask for recommendations, or you could ask on Exhibitors Choice & Voice (Born 2012) facebook group.

Thanks equi. sadly I don't have FB, its just something I never got into. Yes a lot of them are very overbred, which is what I'd found when looking. They are certainly not like the ones I had 15 years ago. It's so sad as they are a fab breed. We are happy to travel around the country for a well bred dog, there was a fab litter in Belfast but ready now and we're not ?‍♀️ so if you do know any pups coming up that have a low coi, and are not blue I will be happy for any colour (black and dark brindle were my 1st & 2nd but not only choice) as long as its healthy is the main thing.

It was awful, sharing sires and grand sires. The breeder prefix seemed to be theirs so think they just used their own studs and bitches. They are up for nearly 3k each too as being exceptionally well bred ?
Thank god for the KC coi calculator so people can check.
So many also are KC reg with no health checks on the parents, I'm surprised it is allowed ☹️

Thank you I shall contact the breed club and see if they can put me in touch with any ethical breeders.

Yep, please do photos. Staffies are 'my' breed! FWIW, if you really want a nice, KC reg sort, have a look at litters in France. They have REALLY taken off over there in the last 5 years and their quality is now better than what it is here. Same for Sweden.

The only issue there is that you need them to be vaccinated for rabies for them to get the passport and that can't be done before 9 weeks, plus you'd obviously have to organise the vaccine and the passport with the breeder and they'd need to keep the puppy a bit longer (and how's your French/Swedish-in Sweden so many people speak amazing English!) and do you prefer meeting the parents /pups first?!

The breeder was amazing, as we're their dogs. They owned both parents and breed to improve the breed. The pups only have a COI of 3%, which is incredibly low. Both mum and dad were available and both so friendly, as well as being fully health tested, as pups will be. Mum had no issue with us cuddling all her pups. The pups were clean, healthy, chunky, shiny, alert and with bright eyes. We have selected a brindle female and get her at end of May at 8.5 weeks. Pictures will definitely be posted when she arrives.
Thanks all for your advise on where to look for a good quality, well bred non blue stafford. I'd started to give up hope x

Yeah I have one here that's nearly ten and trained with a two year old and a five month old yesterday. It's not that big a deal in some breeds, if you know what you're looking at/for. They're usually painstakingly researched, often a lot more than a homebred one would be (it took about a year or more to decide on the litter/line the ten year old came from), with copious amounts of WhatsApp videos and hours spent trawling working-dog.com ?
It's been a thing in my breed for sixty years or more/not considered unusual.

Glad the OP found what they were looking for.
