Hi everyone,
I'm just putting the feelers out at the moment. Would anyone let me know if they hear of something suitable in the area for me? As close to Redcar as possible. I'm looking for a share/part-loan arrangement. I've recently come back into riding after about 10 years (with a few minor bits and pieces in between). I'm a teacher so I'm looking in the lead up to summer where I'll have lots of time and energy to commit.

I was a confident rider and was up to the point of doing a bit of jumping when I fell and knocked myself out and injured my neck in what should have been a very minor fall but ended up being an awkward fall. The problem was I didn't get back on for a while - couldn't after the fall and then lost my nerve. I'm not back in the saddle and I've been working on my confidence through private lessons. I've not tried jumping again yet but I feel that's a bit of a take it or leave it thing for me - I love the joy of riding and I'm not wanting to compete or anything. Just enjoy what I love doing. I feel I'm ready to move on soon. Ideally, I'd love to carry on private lessons on the loaned/shared horse which is why I'd like it to be fairly close.

I need a nice quiet horse who I can enjoy riding with and caring for. Something that will help me get my confidence back and is safe and well mannered. I'm 5"9 so pretty tall and currently am riding a 15.2hh mare during lessons but I think that would be minimum as I look a little big on her.

If anyone hears of anything or knows of anything in the next couple of weeks/months, and could point me in that direction, I'd be grateful.
Thanks xx

We used to go for the beach hacks at Saltburn! Must go again, been a couple of years at least.

Sorry OP, no help on the share front, although it's a while since you originally posted. Did you find anything? If not, and you would like to try a beach ride, I can recommend Saltburn. They have (or used to have) rides which are split into a walk/trot group and a canter group, so if you are not sure you are confident enough once on the beach, you would have the option of joining the walk/trot group.

ETA oops, just spotted you said you used to ride there when younger. I will write down 20 times: 'must not post things before I've had a second coffee'.

No worries. I am currently sharing a 14.1 pony. Perhaps a little on the small side given my height but he's a lovely little pony. It's about an hour round trip to his farm is the only down side. I'm starting to consider rescuing my own horse :) xx
