As some of you know I lost my two horses in 7 days!

Such a shock and I feel totally lost. Ive not been without a horse for 13 years (I do still have a small pony though but not a riding horse!).

I compete every week and I just feel lost now.

Looking for another horse but finding it so difficult to find one within my budget that will do what I want to do!

Where do you guys look? I normally get them from abroad but with my budget now I am not sure how cost effective it is! (insurance wouldnt pay out!)
 
What would you like said horse to be able to do? You know how everyone loves a search, give us the requirements and let people do the leg work. It should give you an idea of what's out there.
 
Im sorry to hear you have lost 2 horses, its never easy, my condolences.


What type of horse are you looking for and ballpark budget?
 
okay this is kind of what I am after

4-5 year old, under saddle. Pref jumped training show/BN. Scope to jump 1.20/1.30s in future.
Pref continental as I get on better with them!

Budget is max 9k

I am viewing one next week but want to find more to make sure ect

As I will now only have one to compete its more important I find the right one!
 
What about discussing with studs like the Billy Stud?
Otherwise may be best to try round a few dealers/importers and go and try a big range of horses rather than trying to buy privately.
 
My coach wants to avoid big professional producers if possible as you dont get as much horse for your money as paying for the name.... I agree!

Had a look on some dealer pages but feel free to send me some more! The more I have the more choice I have!
 
OK, maybe not the top flash producers as I agree, you pay for the name that told the working pupil to crack on! I know of a few people who have visited importers yard and tried 10 horses out. What about Irish horses?

I would like to go abroad but with my budget dont want to take a large chunk up on import fees! Have had horses from sales in ireland before, I like them but prefer the european types. I have had some details on one in ireland but its older than I want and a stallion, though I dont mind a stallion as can always geld it/have it graded and see but this one was too old for me (8 year old)

Its a buyers market and I cant bloomin find anything
 
It might be worth looking at Studs that breed the kind of horse you like. They might have a super ready to break horse that will fit the bill. I bought my last two from their breeders and it has been very successful.

Yeah I found one bred by a producer but again coach said from a professional, cant win!

He knows what I need and has always helped me find good horses in the past not sure why its so hard this time :P

Hopefully the one im seeing on tues fits the bill!
 
Looks like a really lovely black mare, odd choice of music to use with the video though (not sure on the subliminal benefits of using a song with lyrics "suicidal" "girl just drives me crazy" "we're never going to last together" "It'll never work, she'll have you suicidal" ) hummmm...
 
You don't say what your budget is, but Carron Nicholl (sp?) in Coventry area does have nice young European horses (http://www.rumerstud.co.uk/pages/horses-for-sale.php).

Mostly from an SJ standpoint but they would do most jobs. I bought one from them about 4 years ago and he was a cracking horse, lots of talent, huge jump, nice person to have about. I sold him when I got pregnant and didn't have time for two but someone I know bought him and still has him, he wins every dressage comp she enters. A friend of mine went for another a couple of years ago and he has also proved lovely.

They also come with a warranty.
 
Have you tried Ali16 on here? She has a small number in to sell and I had a great experience buying from her. She was recommended to me by another HHOer !

Good grief, just looked at the black mare, that's Anouk !!

Shes the dam of my rising 4 year old. I bought her daughter as a yearling, and if her mum has the same temperament ( which i believe she does) she will be a total sweetheart. She is really worth looking at.

If only i had a spare stable....
