What is the best way, in your opinion, to find a new yard? I thought that Googling "livery yard" in my area would produce some good results, but it didn't. I have had one or two recommended by word of mouth but they either didn't have vacancies or were too far away. Is there any sort of database of livery yards available or is is best to just ask at the local tack shop? Unfortunately, I live in quite a remote area though so the yards nearest to the tack shop would be too far away as well. Dilemma!

If I can add my own bit of advice... when you go an visit, don't be afraid to ask loads of questions!

For example, only after moving to my last place did I find out that there was no feed room (from previous experience I had assumed that all yards had feed storage facilities for DIYers - wrong!!). Feed was being stored outside stables and bedding had to be put in a v.leaky old barn resulting in most of mine being ruined!

Ask exactly what you get for your money and take off the rose-tinted spectacles (as I forgot). Best of luck...
