Hey,

Probably a bit early to ask as I still have 5 weeks of uni before I come back home to Surrey but I'm just too excited to sit around waiting!

This would be my first share, I've just got back into riding after a long break. I'm comfortable with W/T/C and had my first jumping lesson (went great until the RS pony decided it would practice for the puissance and launched me over a trotting pole...managed to land it but then was so shocked I was still on that I fell off). I'm a complete novice when it comes to horse care, I'm happy grooming and mucking out but that's it but I'm a quick and willing learner plus my Mum had a horse when she was younger and I very much doubt I could keep her away even if I tried!

I have all summer (June-September) free before I start my grad job in Guildford so fully flexible on days plus I have a car so anywhere that's within 10 miles of Camberley in Surrey is what I'm looking for.

Not fussy pony/horse wise. I'm 5ft 2 and 7.5 stone, ideally something that is 14.1-15.3hh I think would be perfect! I'd like to continue with lessons but do enjoy hacking also. I can't get enough of horses at the moment, feel like a 10 year old girl again, I just want something I can give loads of attention to and treat like my own!

If anyone knows of anything or has any advice I'd love to hear it!

Its great how keen you are!

It might be an idea to share/ loan one at a riding school? It would help you develop both your riding and teach you more about horse care! It would provide you with a supportive environment to gain the experience you need. If I was putting my horse for part loan, I would be looking for someone with more experience, so keep an open mind that it may be hard to find one, and it may even be a good idea to build up your experience first.
If you have the whole summer off, I'd hugely recommend volunteering with a Riding for the Disabled group, or with a riding school. I volunteered with RDA and even though I'd owned horses for years, the lady who ran our branch is incredibly knowledgeable and she taught me so much.

Best of luck x

There is a riding school near me that does shares so I think that is definitely something I will look into as I would definitely feel more comfortable having that support! There's a couple of RDA groups near me and that was something I was going to look into once I am back from uni, glad to hear you had a good experience from it.

Thanks for your advice! All this excitement is the only thing getting me through this final push at uni.
