Apart from project horses, which seems to be full of overpriced Parelli rejects, where would you go to look for a summer project?
Must be sellable at the end of it, between 13.2 - 16hh, young but not baby, you know the sort of thing. Something that needs time but isn't a nutter??
Thanks!

My mum always looks locally, there are bound to be 15year olds that have overhorsed themselves, they are everywhere. Completely agree about the parelli rejects comment.

There are 2 for sale at my yard. One is just being backed and the other has been backed and is just starting going out hacking. Both are lovely. One is a 13.2hNewforest mare who is stunning and the other a 14h gelding who is a bit sharp for a child but will make a fantastic competition pony as he can jump like a stag. I don't know how much they are asking for them but if you want a nice project they are both worthwhile.

What is your budget? Do you mean a cheap, 2 grand project horse or young sport horse to bring on - 8-10k ish?

less than 1k for a sound horse thats decent enough to to turn into a riding horse? Good luck with that...

About 1k I should think, up to 2k for something great (potential wise!).
I think they are out there...RPs comment about overhorsed teenagers is a true one!

have found loads in last couple years! Some sold as problem horses...when the problem was the owners! and some just a genuine green horse which isnt suited to the person that owns it....and some that just need a quick sale.

Please excuse my ignorance then, i stand thoroughly corrected! Best of luck to you Clodagh, hope you find a good 'un. If you do decide to up your budget, dont hesitate to contact me as i have a few youngsters currently for sale around the 8-10k mark.

Good ads, I like the grey mare but I like all grey mares! THe appy a bit too young, perhaps, would really need to keep him til next spring. Bay mare at the top quite pretty, not convinced by the chestnut but am not a warmblood fan.

i know 2 ex-racers that are for sale from the racing yard where i have got 6 from (not all for me) the trainer is fab his word is his bond and he has NEVER sold us anything unsuitable

they are both 6 about 15.2 tb (obviously) and will be around £800 one filly one gelding both bombproof in traffic and sane his 14 yo daughter took the filly hunting last season - he is in north yorks tho

pm me for more details

I have just bought a lovely mare off project horses for £600. Again, she just found herself in the wrong hands with previous owner!
