Gosh haven't been in here for ages. Recently lost my beloved rottie Sage. I am utterly devastated and her brother is like a lost soul. He saw her before we buried her but he still looks for her. Sleeps next to her basket and generally adds to the heart break. So we are looking for a pup. Rott or Ridgeback and ready now or fairly soon. Any one know of any? We are in Cheshire but will travel reasonable distances. The only ads I can find are a tad dodgy looking!!

If you want a rott to do obedience etc I cannot recommend highly enough the kennel we used in Germany.vom gruntenblick kennels on the German Austrian border. We drove for the pup through beautiful scenery,it was like a holiday. The parents are ch titled, red papered ( hold both working titles and show titles)and the pups are pink papered. The cost was very reasonable and not more than a good uk kennel.
My girl was 42 kg,well muscled and really good obedience dog.
Pics here on a Russian site, but you get the idea of the quality.

gunnergundog have e-mailed a few on the kc website just waiting for replies. Bellasophia those dogs are amazing but that is just a tad too far!! I have horses at home and don't want to leave Dexter, the brother, on his own or with a sitter as he is really struggling. Thanks for the replies.

So sorry to hear about Sage mattydog..... I always loved reading your posts, although I am blowed if I can remember what your user name used to be! Does Dexter still wait at the bottom of trees for squirrels?

I can't remember which user name you might know me under either - Acolyte maybe?

Yeah had to change it because I got locked out and couldn't get back in!! They gave up waiting at the bottom of trees and started using a pincer movement to catch them instead. Never actually managed it though!! Sage is very much missed. She had a fast advancing cancer pretty much everywhere. Dex and I are in a bit of a mess about it.

So sorry to read this Mattydog, I used to love reading about Sage and Dexters exploits.
I dont even know if she is still breeding but this lady used be one of the top rottie kennels in the country and had lovely dogs. If she has nothing herself she may well be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks MM and everybody else. I do believe we have found a little sister for Dexter. We are going to see her next week but am pretty sure she will be joining our family next month. feeling very tearful, guilty and excited all at the same time! We haven't had a pup in the house for nearly 9 years! The plan is to then look for a ridgey in the New Year. I did go through the KC. They have a list of members who have pups available or due. We must be mad and I think Dexter may leave home.

So a final update....I hope. We appear to have found a red wheaten ridgeback. Breeder contacted me to say they were born early hours of this morning and I was about to say no and my mouth kinda said yes. Soooo rotty pup will be here in 4 weeks and ridgey pup will be here 4 weeks after that!! We have got to be crazy. But all pups will be bedded in for Christmas. Hope Dex approves....and the cats!!

Omg, you crazy thing! Ha, it'll be wild for a while, but how fabulous! One of each sounds amazing. Please load lots of pictures when you get them, baby rotties are especially gorgeous!
