The new kennel is coming tomorrow and I am having a lovely big pen fenced (mostly to keep Flyn in!!) As my situation has changed and I am working a lot more hours than before I really need to keep the dogs secure.

Don't be alarmed though, they still come to the yard twice a day, come hacking with me on the moors, go shooting in the season and live in the house when I am home. My son currently only does three days a week at 6th form too and he takes the dogs on mamouth walks when he is home.

He has yearned for a collie dog of his own for years - hence the new kennel etc.

So, I have been searching all the rescue homes in my locality (not many) and am on the look out for a border collie bitch pup. It would be nice to get one from a rescue but to be honest they are so cheap to buy as a pup I am not surprised there aren't any in rescues.

I am well aware that my son may well leave home in coming years without his dog but am very happy to take it on - lets face it, its a damn sight cheaper to transport a dog than a horse and I quite fancy doing a bit of agility or flyball - you never know, you might see me at Crufts in five years time!!

Anyway - if anyone can find some border collie pups for rescue in the Southwest, just let me know please :)

There are loads of older BC in rescues, but perhaps not pups. It no doubt takes a while for the people who have bought them to find out that they can't exist on one short walk a day and nothing to occupy their brains. Did you want a very young pup or one around 6 months, you might have success finding the latter.
There are some pups on this site, but she is based in Surrey so may be a bit far for you.

QR: Thanks for those links :)

MM - what a pity that ValGreys is not nearer to me, she has two lovely little pups.

I will ring the border collie rescue on Monday :)
