Hi All,

We are on the hunt for a yard mascot/ spare horse/ over sized pet so though we should ask you guys if you know of anything!!

Must be....
At least 14.2
At least 4
Halter broken
Inexpensive
Not a colt (prefer a gelding to a mare)

Anything considered within those guidelines really....

Let me know if see or hear of anything!! (I know these little gems tend to come from someone who knows someone....)

no i meant 'super cheap' as in really really cheap, not super (nice horses) cheap!

Opps Sorry !! you are right, I attended the final sale last year in an official role. £10 for a colt foal, common small cobby type that came with the add on's.

Have a look at the returns from March Leominster Brightwells, very cheap again. I can see it getting worse if we have a poor hay year.

We are aware of the problems we may across on our mission but we are 3 experienced horse women (that sounds very middle aged!!) with plenty of time and great facilities.

A Sec' D or bigger Newfie or TB cross would also be fine.

Open to any suggestions really :)

My Saffy is for sale but she is only 3 :(

She will make around 15hh though, and she's a palomino, cuddly, wormed, vaccinated and had her teeth checked.

How about looking at some of the rescue places and rehoming something? That way you would be giving something a much needed home and freeing up space for something else to be rescued. That might be the way to go if you're not too worried about quality. :)

I think we would struggle from a rehoming centre as we are nowhere near any and it is between 3 of us

Have high hopes for Stoneleigh then, finding very little advertised privately

I've got a very sweet sec d gelding in the field. He's only 3 but has been broken, ridden away and hacked out. Very nice person and not spoilt. Would be the right side of £800! We took him in part ex and he's now just turned away with some of our others but nothing to stop him going and doing a job.

I suggested rescue places a few posts back, but the OP said that there were none nearby . There's a lovely chap on the Blue Cross website at the moment.

I think buying from the sales just lines dealers pockets :(, whereas adopting from a rescue centre frees up a space for another needy animal. :)
