I am looking to help out anyone who is struggling to ride/care for their horse due to work/family etc commitments. I am at stay at home mum who now has 2-3 mornings a week free as my children are at school and nursery .

I owned and competed my own horses when I was younger and have ridden on and off since then but not a huge amount.

I would love to get back into it with a view to owning a horse once my kids are both at school.

My horses in the past have been very forward and so I am not looking for a total plod...would like to learn and develop on the horse, would like to get back into jumping etc too.

I live in Aberdeen City , please contact me if you think you could use my help...I'll muck out, groom, clean tack everything :)

Thank you

Can't help I'm afraid as I am about 150 miles away in Easter Ross, but that sort of arrangement has worked well here for both parties. What is more, my helpers have very seldom had to muck out or clean tack and have mostly thoroughly enjoyed themselves!:D

Although I have the perfect help at the moment, there is always room for another. Isn't this the perfect way to get free riding and to get to play with horses without it costing anything? I even pay travelling expenses, but not from Aberdeen I'm afraid. :( I sometimes wonder why people want to own horses when there are opportunities out there to have all the pleasures and none of the expense.

Interested in chatting with you further re riding horses...I've unexpectedly got 3 back in work and was thinking about advertising for someone who'd like to ride on a regular basis ...not looking for someone to do chores although definitely would like someone who actually wants to be around horses and not just throw saddle on and head out. I'm 15 miles from Aberdeen, the Kintore side of Inverurie, private yard with good facilities, well mannered, friendly horses and would love to hear from you if it sounds like something you may be looking for...

Hey julie,

That does sound interesting. I would be happy to discuss things in more detail....how is this done via forum? I can give you my email address...and then we could arrange for me to visit the yard ?

Fantastic :) yes I completely agree, especially as I'm just starting to get back into it and with a young family so I want to test the waters first before I financially commit to owning a horse etc

Wish you were closer :)

I saw the thread title and started praying you were in Glasgow :D
I ride mornings, and sometimes it seems as though I'm the only person in the world - it would be lovely to have someone to take out one of the other horses with me!

Hope you get matched up with a nice owner/horse :)

Shame you're not nearer, I'm about 40 mins from Aberdeen. Would be fab to have someone to hack out with, me on my youngster and someone on my 17.1hh WB who is amazing to ride but just gently as he's sadly permanently lame nowadays (mechanical). But if you did fancy a walking hack and where prepared to drive out here then let me know! I also have a 13.2hh veteran native that you could hack out with me on another of my horses but again, has to be a gentle hack as that horse bust his tendon 2 years back so I dont risk any fast work ;)

Hey there,

I'm afraid that is a tad too far for me ... I only have
3 hours free each morning , so I'm looking for minimum
Travel time. Also I'm really looking for something that would
Like to jump ....or at least could gently work up
To jumping small fences over time. Want to aim towards small competitions
At some point in the future :)
Hope you find someone that suits though :)
Thank you for asking :)
