Hiya, my name is Emily and I'm 18 years old. I'm currently looking for a horse to ride a few days a week in the Reading area in exchange for stable work - mucking out, poo picking etc, I work with dogs and horses so am happy to work and don't mind getting my hands dirty. I can't afford my own horse or the upkeep of one but I've been extremely lucky over the past few years with horses to ride. I've ridden a number of horses from my current yard as a favour to their owners, horses that aren't ridden enough so I've ridden them to keep them 'ticking over'. All have been free or have been in exchange for the dirty work.
I understand this doesn't happen often and that many horses owners will expect some money towards livery/feed/etc. therefore I'm not very confident I will find another horse that I can ride without making a financial contribution towards, but I'm giving it a go. Only looking for a new horse to ride due to the owner of the horse I currently ride has now (very understandably) asked for a monthly contribution which I cannot afford.
I'm a capable rider - walk, trot, canter, jump (although slightly nervous jumping at the moment as I haven't had a very capable jumper in a while, but fine once I get going). I'm not fussy about riding different horses, I'll try pretty much anything and have done at current yard. I enjoy flatwork, hacking, jumping - everything. I like to do the on the ground part as well as the ridden side, brushing, turning out/bringing in, happy to muck out etc etc. I'm responsible, I wouldn't do anything to endanger myself or the horse, I'm friendly and confident to talk to people on the yard. I'm about 5'6" and around 9 stone, looking for a horse 15.2hh and above really, not fussed on age. I drive and share a car with my mum so not too bothered on what yard, as long as it's not too far (current yard only 6 miles from my house). I'm happy to ride whatever the weather and usually have around three days off a week to get to the stables.
I have maintained a good reputation with horse owners at my yard, those who I have shared horses with have always been pleased with the time and care I put in for their horses. I do things their way, and do as I am asked with their horses and stables. I'm sure I could get a reference if needed.
I know this is a long shot, but I would very much appreciate if those from Reading would pass on the word/if anyone knows of anything suitable could let me know, that would be fantastic.
Thank you
