Hello...

I know this is a bit of a long shot but I am on the hunt for a new yard for my semi retired horse as a new job means my current yard is going to be too far to travel twice a day in winter.

I need somewhere as close to Addingham as possible so that when I am unable to see to neddie my mum is able to, so the Addingham/Ilkley/Silsden area is preferable.

DIY/Grass livery would be ideal as need as much turnout as possible due to neddies medical conditions and good hacking would be a bonus as this is all we do. My horse would also make a great companion on a private yard for another horse that needs a friend.

Have tried all the large yards in the area but all are unsuitable as they are either full livery only, not enough turnout, non existant hacking etc. I know I am asking a lot but if anyone does know of anything I would be extremely grateful if you would get in touch.

Thanks for reading :)

Craven livery in gargrave, farfields skipton, buckstones in.... Crosshills ish?? (Google it!), there's a few small ones in Silsden not sure of names but if you ask about round the town I'm sure someone will push you in the right direction, Aireview equestrian centre in Keighley/Bingley area too, few in Wilsden.. Wilsden ec and salter royd x

I dont know if its still available but I was offered space (or the whole yard) on a farm on the moor between Addingham and Silsden.

I think there were 6 or 8 boxes and as much grazing as you wanted.

When I visited last year I dont think there were any horses on it, but there could have been if they were out at grass.

Its not a livery just a few boxes and land on a farm which does other things.

This is their website if I am allowed to post it

He was pushing it as I visited for something completely different, might be worth a phone call

Many thanks both...

MrVelvet, all unsuitable i'm afraid but thanks for your help

rockysmum I will look into that, I know exactly where that is as I have a friend almost opposite with her own yard (but sadly not enough grazing to let me join her!) She doesn't think there is anyone else there at the moment and I couldn't have my horse alone but it is deffinately worth a call to check

The only other place I can think of at the moment is on Addingham Moorside.

You will have to bear with me on the directions.

If you take the left turning off the Addingham Bypass (Heading from Ilkley to Skipton) The road eventually goes to Silsden. However on the top somewhere there is a crossroads. If you turn left the single track road looks as though it will go back to Ilkley but actually stops and turns into a footpath after a mile or so.

Just before it does there is a yard on the right hand side. They were taking DIY liveries as a friend of ours went there. We have moved now and I dont have her phone number, but have a look, if you cant find it I will ask around. It was only small, not a proper yard but had about 6 horses on it and plenty of grazing.

There's Draughton Heights at Draughton if you haven't tried there yet.

Is Bingley too far? There's Ravenroyd and St Ives there.

Blantyre up towards the top of Keighley.
