I am looking for some inspiration, so started to think about autumn hunting, after all with this weather it might as well be autumn!!

I am looking for a new hunt. I have moved yards and the old hunt is too far to travel. I am not a weekly hunter (although would love to be!), but looking for hound exercise, cubbing and several day caps. Would like a relaxed, fun hunt.

I have a good old fashioned Irish hunter. He hunted with the galway blazers for 2 seasons before I got him, he has a good 5th leg, great jump, good pace, but he isn't a point to pointer, strong and steady is our game. Which hunt would suit him and my requirements? I would love the Beaufort, but my pay check doesn't stretch to that. So, VWH, Cotswold or Berkeley?

I haven't been out with them - Kimblewick might also cover some of that area? Country seems pretty ok - not that many mega jumping meets, which suits a chicken like me!

ETA for some reason I thought you were in Bucks ! Glocs might be too far west sorry!

Where are you based as the distance between the Cotswold and the Berkeley is easily 45 mins.

Berkeley are one of the cheaper hunts approx £80 for a Saturday. Can hunt 5 days on this cap. Very friendly, Saturdays till March are down in the vale. There are normally three areas / meet they hunt in, Ham green are Marsh days and can be big hedges and ditches (not always garunteed) Kennels South, which is nicer less big/ditchier hedges but still very fun and Kennels North, fewer hedges more post and rails. The then move up to the hills above wotton -u-edge from March and hunt till mid april.

We have lovely masters, small fields (people wise) and can have some cracking days hunting. let me know if want any more info.

Izzywhizz, Do you hunt with the Berkeley regularly.....only i am hoping to get out this season and have never been before? Would love as much info as possible? I am stabled at the bristol end of the A38 so the Cotswold seems too far to travel especially for autumn hunting?

Yes, well i share a horse, so the horse is out most saturdays! The Berkeley would be the most sensible, location wise for you. most of our meets are between the A38 & the River Severn.
If you want to P any questions please feel free.
