Ok so I'm looking for info on anything horsey - I'm looking to focus more on horse care - so the mothership and myself can learn more.

I've got a few pages bookmarked already:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bit_(horse) - tells you a bit of info about various types of bit

http://www.sustainabledressage.net/tack/bridle.php - tells you about the bridle, bit and various (horror stories) nosebands.

Could you point me in the direction of any other usefull webpages please?

Google :p
I google everything! even if its just random questions, I find that way I can look at sevral different sites/ information and then decide for myself what is most informitive. Some sites will have slighly different info. x

Yeah google is my best virtual friend! ;) I usually have something specific to look for at the time though.
My mum was asking me about nosebands and bits today so told her what I knew and said to her to have a look on google for more info because it's been invaluable to me but she hates trawling the internet :(
I suggested that I find some good informative pages and bookmark them for her to have a look later which she likes the sound of but now I'm having a brain fart about what to look for :D

Thanks we are definately going to get some more books in, I have 100 ways to improve your horses health which is a good book but I'm lookin for something in the meantime :D

Pretty much any visual instruction you need is available on Youtube. Some of it is rubbish but there are colleges, BHS trainers and equestrian centres who have posted.

For instance, I once wanted to know how to fit a Pessoa lunging aid and how it was supposed to work and I actually found my local Agricultural college had posted a video of the very same thing!!

Find out which of your tack shops are the best and pop in for a chat - hopefully theyll know all about the equipment theyre selling :) Also some riding stables offer stable management days which can be really good :)
