Looking for small lorry over 3.5t!! anyone??

Hi,
Im on the hunt for a small lorry to take my two horses out & about to localish shows etc. (fed up of renting). Needs to be sturdy and reliable. Only have a budget of around 5k, have been looking at 5.5t renault dodge type or 6t iveco. Found what i thought was perfect runner for me but only had a 1000kg payeload :-( needs to be around 2000kg as horses are approx 650kg each.
Anyone know of anything going? dont care about looks as long as it will get me and my boys safely from a to b and not fall apart.

yes have been searching for the past 2 months :( either faulter on payeload or are already sold! im not quick enough ;) lol
 
I was at a show a few weeks ago & spoke to the people parked next to me with a 3.5 ton VW. It was an oldie, 'E' reg I think, but it was a little gem. Nicely painted, sound, sailed through its MOT & they bought it off Ebay for £2,800. There are some nice ones about & at reasonable prices ......but there are some real sheds as well so beware.
 
thanks for your replies :) unfortunately 3.5t is too small as it will need to have a payload big enough to allow my two horses (both 16hh+).

Try Thorpe Horseboxes. they were tidying up an iveco 5 ton 2 horse and putting new ramp wood on. Chap I spoke to said it would sell for about 4000 ish.

Looked quite nice with back and side ramp and had living in it.

I have a 7.5ton lorry that i have had for a about 7 years, it 'E' reg and runs fantastic ! leyland roadrunner, it takes 3 large horses but i only ever take 2 due to weight loads etc, i dont know the weight unloadened but hopeing to find out ASAP.

i am looking to sell it in the next few months and only looking for 6k has electric ramp and day living with cold running water and gas hob, I love this lorry but wife making me buy a new one as we need full living now ! doing overnight show and it has no heating ! is a killer on the night !

Scott - thanks so much for the info however I really am after something under 7.5ton. Thank you though :) hope you sell your lorry soon and get something warmer! :)
Criso - no I didnt put a bid in for it, they couldnt give me an accurate payload so thought was a bit risky :/ shame as it looks lovely!
