A couple of months ago I bought a beautiful (to me) little Welsh sec A PB. Now my daughter who's 5years old would like to try some leadrein showing with him. I have never shown in my life and have no idea where to start! Thinking of turning him out as a SHP? But then what do child and i wear? Can he get away with black tack? I know that technically it should be brown but we are just doing local shows possibly the Highland if I dont back out and 'forget' to hand the entry in ;) Any help would be really appreciated.

I have uploaded some pictures to my personnal profile, I didnt know how to attach the file

A SHP should be turned out the same as an M&M, except the pony needs to be plaited, trimmed and pulled tail. The rider and handler in tweed jackets, cream jods, handler skirt, everything should be smart and workmanlike.

Tweed for Show Hunter ponies. Black tack will e fine so long as it is neat and fits well.

The pony will need to be pulled and plaited and if you are doing the Highland then very well schooled.

Rider should be wearing a tweed jacket, beige/canary jods and brown/oxblood short boots. Shirt, tie, brown gloves and pretty ribbons in their hair. Preferably a blue velvet hat but black will be ok.

The Leader should wear a matching, or near enough, tweed jacket, depending on the style of the jacket as to whether you wear a blouse underneath or whatever you want. Skirt or cullotes, sensible smart shoes that you can run in, a hat to go with the jacket, gloves and the leader carries the show cane - never the child. The child wears the number on their backs.
