he's lovely... I'll take him hunting for you! :)

Though I'm not sure you'd appreciate me returning him stained yellow from our clay! :D

I rarely take Ron autumn hunting. For 3 reasons... I'm rubbish at mornings, it's difficult for me to take half day's holidays, and he hates it - he just can't see the point in standing around waiting for hunting to start, when he could be continuing to stuff his little face in the field!

wow, I really like him, but as much as I would love to take him hunting, I don't envy you on a boggy January evening with THAT tail to clean...!

^^ oh yes- i already have two to try and get white..thankfully their spots helped disguise stains. I am contemplating telling everyone that io isnt grey, he's hearing-aid-beige :p

Love autumn hunting-the early starts so i only have to take a half day off work :) plus the fields are smaller so you are right up with the hounds :p I am hoping to introduce Measfans Freddy to hounds this autumn before turning him away for the winter to continue growing :)

Just out of interest, how many other stallions, other than Spyder of course, does anyone know that goes hunting - and that do the whole hunting job properly not just appearing at meets then rushed off home again? I think it has to be a big plus on Spyder's CV for prospective mare owners that he's not just a pretty face, that he's reliable enough to have a job too.

D_D_D no you will not get away with claiming he is beige ;) we survive with our greys, alltho I do normally wash off there legs and tails with fairy liquid wen back if been very muddy (or hibisrcrub). I actually think on some ways at least it is easier to make sure that all the mud etc is def off greys as you can see it that much better. That said I'm loving the fact that my new one is Bay with black legs :)) alltho hopefully my spotty will stay sound for some more hunting this season!

And Maesfan yep we also have a stallion that hunts with our pack, will do gate duties etc, if he didn't wear discs you wouldn't know (apart from certain mares) and he does pc jumping with the owners children, I think they mainly use him for their mares tho, but he is v laid back!

A previous masters wife used to hunt a first generation Touch of the Blues stallion (i.e. one of his sons) with us. He whipped in, field mastered, the lot. He was hunted in a snaffle, and always behaved beautifully. I don't recall that he had discs on the bridle, but it was a few years ago now!

definitely a plus for Spyder to be seen hunting!

It's good to know other stallions have/are still hunting.
Embla used to hunt their stallions (all IDs too) plus they'd be used for hound parades and catching up at the point to point; they loved it.
Keep up the good work Spyder!

There used to be a ID stallion hunting with the Golden Valley - absolutely fab - took the owner's 14 yr old son out

Old Leighlin (ISH) was the Ledbury huntsman's horse for several seasons and a friend of mine hunts his stallion with the Ledbury(and his offspring too!)

We've got 2 RIDs - both grey - one naturally dirty and one naturally clean - the worst though are the 2 coloureds - their white bits are WHITE so you can't get away with hearing-aid beige with them!
