Hi,

I think I have convinced OH that I need another horse and have always wanted a youngster.

How much would I have to spend to buy some thing bred for eventing?

What blood lines should I avoid? What breed?
Would prefer a yearling or 2 year old, gelding, grey or a smart coloured.

I'm going to be fussy as I'm in this for the long haul!

Is there any thing else I should be thinking about?

Any advice welcomed

I can recommend Touchwood Stud. They are quietly plugging away producing gorgeous dressage/event bred youngsters. I got my lovely boy from Gemma and Dave and they were really really good with me asking silly questions! Tommy is from Fleetwater Opposition lines by Groomsbridge May I and is bred for Olympic eventing. He was 2.5k as a 6month old foal. His gorgeous little full brother is for sale as well just now!!
Some pics of my boy to let you see him.

Janet george has good quality irish horses but maybe too full up irish to excell in eventing?? Otherwise I can recommend a few places but those that spring to mind are bluewood stud http://www.trakehners.co.uk/, brendon stud(http://www.brendonpyecombe.co.uk/horsesforsale.asp) they stand el thunder who is a very good stallion and throws good eventing type stock. Louella stud stand 2 primitive rising stallions who is a known producer of event horses, http://www.louellastud.co.uk/horses-for-sale Ballyshan horses in ireland are very helpful people, though they normally produce for the showjumping market, they have had a few offspring suitable for eventing too: http://ballyshanhorses.webs.com/forsale.htm

Couldn't say I give a hoot about breeding when it comes to buying horses, I just know what I like. I bought a 15mth old last year, he us to make 16hh ish but seeing as he's just turned 2 and is 15.3hh i am not sure how tall he may get! I saw him on HM for a few weeks, his ad went off and then cam back on and at the time I was looking for something 2 upwards and (if possible) dun. However, he kept popping up and, ashe was fairly near i went to see him and decided to buy. He is coloured (chestnut and white) and medium weight I guess. I think as long as they are built sort of physically a long the vein of what you are wanting to do then the rest of it is down to how they are brought on and less to do with their actual breeding.

I would put some pics of him on but I cannot get my pics on photobucket to show larger than thumbnails annoyingly!!!

Bakedbean thank you for your concern. That show was in April after a hard winter living out Tommy still qualified for the Scottish Sports Horse final at Blair Castle. The judge thought he looked great if a little woolly!
Pastie2 hopefully we will event in the future. All plans working out of course!
Curragh they are at www.touchwoodstud.co.uk and based in Hungerford.
