Hey, I'm new here and was looking for some advice.

I am looking to buy some clippers as have previously used YO's but have decided I may as well buy my own.

However I need them to be as quiet as poss as I have a Welsh Cob on full loan and he is very nervous. I usually sedate him to clip but would like to if possible be able to gradually desensitise him to clippers.

I have been looking at the Liveryman "Harmony" clippers but would like to know if they are:

a) quiet (it says they are) and with fairly low vibration
b) Durable enough to do a blanket or potentially full clip
3) Lightweight to hold/ easy to hold
4) Are there any others you would reccomend?

YO's clippers that I have hired previously are Osprey ones and they are very quiet but are also quite old and I havent seen them for sale any more.

Sorry for long first post!

Lister's Liberty clippers :D Brill :D :D

I got some, and the Libretto trimmers, for Christmas :D :D

Clipped my previously clipped only under sedation and then only a little bit clipped off DWB mare a few days ago. Did her loose in her stable. She was a star :D :D

The Liberty run off a battery pack, but I have the mains lead as well. Either way, they are quiet and low vibration :D :D. The size and vibration was important as my right hand has had too many years of being used and abused (extreme sports when I was younger lol).

i have those clipppers :) mine are for my welshie aswell she used to have to be sedated to be clipped and ive had her 5 years now and she just stands there and fall asleep.

They are quiet and dont vibrate too much. i always do a full clip with them and shes a fluffy welshie and they are fine.
they are pretty light the only thing i find is i alwayas catch the on/off switch when im using them and turn them off lol

id recommend them :D:D

Would they be powerful/ robust enough to do blanket clip on relatively hairy Welsh Cob?

Thanks!

If that's the Lister Liberty ones, then yes. I did a TBxID, a DWB, and Big Cob - went through all the coats beautifully :D :D. The cob had a good thick mane that needed hogging, and very fluffy legs.

First time I'd used the clippers and I was very impressed :D :D

Aesculap have a new clipper out which has ben well tested in the UK with nervous horses.
http://www.peasridge.co.uk/acatalog/Professional_dog_clippers.html

Although called dog clippers they are more than capable of clipping a horse and have interchangeable blade widths.

This is the battery version

I've got the Lister Liberty clippers aswell. They're brill, i've had mine for about 5 years and clip a lot of peoples horses with them, they've never let me down. I would never buy anything other than Listers in the future :)

I have the Liveryman Harmony clippers and they are great - I have a very hairy IDx and gets through her coat easily. She has been funny to clip in the past, but just goes to sleep when i do her with these, even her face and round her ears.
I have found the blades get hot though - I oil them every 10 min or so and have to sets so change over regularly to ensure they don't get too hot and upset her.
