Looking to join a hunt in swansea area

Hello,

I am new to the scene and i'm looking for information on joining a local hunt. I have just purchased my first pony.

I have never been on one so a nice easy hunt is something I am looking for.

Please could someone suggest on how a go about this.

You're just in time for autumn hunting which is a nice way to get into it! Lots of walking and trotting, standing round - good way for a horse to learn manners before 'proper' hunting starts.

There's a fair few hunts around Swansea/Carms - Banwen Miners, Carmarthenshire Hunt, etc. I'd recommend asking on the local facebook groups and people will provide contact details for the secretary who you'll need to talk to first. They'll give you details of the next meet.

I wouldn't worry overly about correct turnout the first time out as hunts round here seem to be more concerned with keeping numbers up than making sure you've got exactly the correct jacket/stock/tie/shirt/boots on but do be prepared to turn up with sparkling tack and pony (and self!) and have pony plaited even if you're told it's not necessary. If you're planning on hunting regularly then have a chat with the sec about expected turnout.
