:D

Spent 3/4 hours grooming today after finding pony looking as if she had rolled in a bog.
After removing half the field from her coat and a barrowload of hair, she still looks awful.

It's lovely that she had a good winter coat that looked great (especially in the snow) and has been unrugged all winter.
But OMG, next winter she's wearing a rug even if I have to tranqualise dart her to put one on.

Meanwhile the pony she shares the field with who has been rugged all winter, lost a few stray hairs and came up with a lovely shine after a light flick with a brush.

How much hair do they grow?
It's a nightmare, hair everywhere, and a patchy motheaten look that will be around until the summer coat comes through.
Nature, you can keep it.

Rant over.:D

Hmm. Hoover? :p

If she's grey on top of all that, you truly have my sympathy!

Although my first instinct when reading "moth eaten hearth rug" was aaw ;)

Every year around this time i promise myself i will clip out next winter.
Having balding issues with my mare this year (her not me!)

Have you though about getting one of those cattle shedder blade things... its a metal strip with "teeth" on it, and handles at each end. Feel the satisfaction from the amount of hair it gets rid of!

Get a shedding blade...now!!

I put a thread on last week asking for recommendations for a good brush for my very very hairy minis. Lots of people suggested a shedding blade so I bought one and OH MY GOD!!! It is amazing, I wish I'd had it weeks ago!

I don't know how it works so much better than a brush when all it has are these little teeth but it's fantastic. Buy one honestly you won't regret it! Plus they are only a couple of quid from a country store :)
