Hello! Had a lesson booked on sat , times got confuzzled and so ended up watching the trainer loose jump my beast..have never seen him jump properly loose before so was amazed to see the way he works, watch him work things out and look at his style..hopefully will get to have a mounted jumpyjumpy lesson next time but was wondering how often should you loose jump? does it have any other benefits? what sort of exercises can u do? He just jumped basic upright, spread but also did a bounce..
Ideas on a postcard plz!
Thank you!

Hehe , we were in an indoor school and it had barriers around the edge to make a track for him. Used to loose school horses at my old yard and can never forget a tank of a cob, getting bored and just sauntering over the fence, clearing the concrete mounting block and just standing there looking like nothing had ever happened!dope!

I like loose schooling youngsters bacause it really takes away the confusion of lunge ropes and riders. It gives them a chance to think forward, up and over... Rather then side ways and around the fence. Letting them work out how to fold, take off, stride etc. I do however still lunge over jumps to get them jumping on bend and used to lunge ropes and restrictions. I will teach my boy loose schooling to start him off.

Love watching loose jumping, they always jump so much better and alot less restricted , I think as long as your horse enjoys it then once or twice a week is fine, again depending on what other work you are doing .
