I am totally thick when it comes to bitting so would like some advice please. :)

Belle came in a french link dutch gag, which she does soften on (with some work!), and I still use this for hacking/jumping as she is happy in it. For schooling, we changed to a hanging cheek snaffle (french link, same as the gag) on suggestion from my instructor as felt Belle would work better in this in school and it is also a legal bit if I did ever want to compete (a hilarious prospect). The problem is that Belle gets hold of it, it seems that she prefers the loose ring action of the gag. She will soften on the hanging cheek but she's quite hard work in it.

Can you get the hanging cheek snaffle with a loose ring action? Instructor thought you could but I can't seem to find one anywhere and I'm not sure what the equivalent or next best option would be?

There is a ducth gag but only has a small ring at the bottom, not two. You could use that and just put the rings on the snaffle ring, and then it is effectively a loose ring hanging cheek french link, but then you wouldn't be able to compete in it.
I don't think you bit you are after could exist. Look at how it is designed, the "hanging" part is on a straight shank, and slightly to the side of the snaffle ring.

Looking at it I wondered how it could work but then I thought maybe there was some equivalent that I didn't know about. I then saw somewhere "loose ring hanging cheek" mentioned. Will have to discuss it further with instructor.

Thanks for your reply. If anyone has any suggestions as to what might work well then I'd really appreciate it. To be honest, I'm not that fussed about competing but I'd like to have the option and get her working well in a suitable bit if possible.

If you are after something dressage legal, but loose ring, then how about a fulmer french link (like this http://www.thehorsebitshop.co.uk/product.php?xProd=272&xSec=17)
If used with fulmer loops (as it should be) then a small amount of poll pressure will come into play so it that respect it will be as close as you can get to the poll pressure from the gag, with loose rings and french link while still being dressage legal.

Agree with this, I think this is the closest you will get to what you are looking for.
Ive ridden in one of these for 18 years with my boy, worked well for us and dressage legal..

This looks like an excellent suggestion. Thank you very much! :)
