Loose ring pinching...

I have Uno in a neue schule starter bit, which he loves.

I measured his mouth before I bought it, but I was wondering whether I should have bought half an inch bigger, as it has pinched him slightly. Also, the bit it very curved, which might make it smaller in his mouth if that makes sense, when it curves over his tongue?

Should I get the bigger bit?

I would at least try it. Don't Neue Schule do 1/4 inch sizes? Maybe that wouldbe enough? Some horses (mine for example!) get pinched no matter what the size (he measures at 5 3/4 and I tried up to 6 1/4 with him but every loose ring pinched) so maybe he just doesn't suit a loose ring? I've got him in a hanging cheek now and his gag (only for jumping) has bit rubbers on it.
