My share horse has pulled his shoe off today.

This morning he was napping on the way to the field. This is completely new behaviour for him and he was napping quite strongly. I was concerned enough stop and to check his feet and legs before turning him out and I waited by the gate to ensure he was settled before leaving, I assumed something may have frightened him in the week but now i’m wondering if he could of felt discomfort prior to it coming off.

Previously all my horses have been barefoot so apologies if this is a daft question but i’m a complete beginner when it comes to shoeing!

It's more likely that he pulled off a shoe because he was being a prat than that he was being a prat because his shoe was loose. My pair have come in tonight like a pair of whirling dervishes! The weather's changing.🤪

It was just a bit of a coincidence it was two new things in a day. He just seemed really definite he didn’t want to go to the field and he has never napped before.

He doesn’t tend to be stupid in the field as he is turned out alone (😢 entire) and much prefers trot over anything faster! That said who knows what he does when i’m not watching 😜 He did come in with a spring in his step so maybe!
