Never used to have loose stools, unless doing something exciting like hunting. The last two or three years it has gradually got to the point where it can happen a bit on a normal hack near home and today we went out in the box for a hack away from home and his back legs were plastered with stinky watery shit by the time we returned. Otherwise he appears to be his normal self. Thinking back to his younger days we used to go all over on our own and his poops were normal. Has anyone experienced this? I think I will need to ring the vet but having not really worried about it because it's come on so gradually (years) I am now suddenly convinced that there is something really wrong.

How old is the horse? PPID affects their cortisol which is the stress/excitement hormone. Maybe worth a test? Also maybe horse less confident now due to minor niggling injury? I’ve often noticed slight behaviour changes before a physical change. Being prey animals they are naturally more vigilant if feel less than 100%

Thanks. He's 15 next year and was diagnosed with Cushings 5 years ago. Has been on Prascend since diagnosis and you wouldn't know to look at him that he had it, but maybe it is catching up with him. Oh dear.
