Monty has lost a tooth today. When the dentist came out a few weeks ago she told me that monty still had all his baby teeth and they should be on there way out by now! as they normally are out before they are 3.
Went to stable to let out this morning and monty was a little 'mouthy' so had a peek and there was some blood on his gums. soon realised that one tooth was just hanging there. Touched it to see if it was fixed at all and it fell into my hand!
The bleeding soon stopped and he seemed much happier and grazed when let out so left him at that.
Went to bring him in tonight and checked his mouth properly for anything that may catch infection etc. After looking round his mouth i noticed some gum missing from the place this morning and around another tooth - only small amounts where two must have fallen out and also 2 other loose teeth.
He seems happy and is eating well, there are no wounds etc just a couple of sore looking spots (although he doesn't seem bothered, let me touch them and he is eating fine)

Is it normal for a pony to loose there baby teeth so qiuckly? Dentist said normally people dont even notice when they loose teeth?

Heres the one he lost this morning lol - had to stop emma trying to put it 'under his pillow' for the tooth fairy

LOL!! Cute. Yes their teeth just seem to pop out.

Here's a photo of one of my 3 year olds' premolars. Horse was just nibbling on his bit and something fell out of his mouth, jumped off and had a look and voila there was his toothy-peg.

I am sad; I have kept baby teeth from lots of my animals

I am very disappointed - Chancer has lost several teeth but apart from the cute gap have never seen any of them - was going to save them and make a necklace. Would have gone with my wisdom teeth which I could make into earrings to match.

Chancer lost his front teeth between 21/2 and 3.

Mine is rising four and just lost one a few weeks ago- was very cute and gappy for a bit. One of his came out rather handily in his feed bowl so I could keep it.

My nearly 2 y o is teething atm, he has everything in his mouth including my clothes! Does anyone have any ideas as to what he could chew on, apart from hay. He is driving me crackers as he is now scraping his naughty teeth down the door!

Swedes are very good for them to chew on. I cored a hole through a few and threaded them onto rope to tie up in his stable. It helped him stop chewing everything else!
