... to live at the moment. I've got the horse up for sale as after 2 years I have finally admitted to myself that he is not for me. I cant give him the work that he needs to be the cracking horse that he can be, but after a few weeks of being messed around I've had enough. Latest thing was this weekend where someone was really keen, came back the following day to view him again and we went through all the details. Asked if I would let her have him on a weeks trial, I said no (in a nice way), yesterday got a text to say that she had arranged for him to go to a yard a few miles away from her for a week so she could get a better feel of him. Errr hello I said NO!!! Couldnt believe the cheek of it that she went behind my back and arranged it. Not only that, but I've lost a potential sale as I put a viewer off as she wanted to come back to see him. I've been as honest and open as possible, I've gone through everything I could go through. I've explained that he's done it all before but due to my health hasnt been in regular work and all he needs is that to bring him back into it. He'll give someone a lot of fun, espcially if they want to jump as he just loves that. I'm so fed up, I dont know where to go from here, any advice...??? :(

How nearby is the person who wants to have him on trial? Could she trial him from your yard? I wouldn't let a horse out of my possession either, but see if you can salvage the potential sale.

I once had a seller offer to let me stay with them for a week to try the horse out more  I am not suggesting you do that though! :D

cheeky mare! lol

or, did you say 'No' in such a nice way that she didnt hear 'No'?

No, I said I couldnt let him go off the yard as I've heard too many horror stories and I wanst prepared to take the chance of anything happening to him

maybe ring her up and straighten things out, let the other person veiw her so you can get a clear idea of them (compare the two)?

I've text her back and re-iterated that the decision to trial was NO. Have left a message with the other person to call me as the horse was still available but 2 days later still no reply. :(

She's about an hour away, but I did say to her when we were discussing that she couldnt take him on trial, that if she was seriously interested I would hold him for a week for her at my place and she could have come as much as she wanted to try him. If I'd been given that option, even if the horse was 4 hours away, I would have taken it!! And after my reply to her yesterday she hasnt got back to me. So much for him being 'the one' that she would have bought no questions on Saturday and taken him away there and then if she had transport...

Ah, sounds like she was trying her luck then. You're better off seeing the back of her!!

Selling horses is very disheartening at times :( But I'm sure you'll find the right home in the end :)
