Ok so as you know hovis currently resembles a walking, shaggy, hairy, gooey lickit.
According to hubby he still has molasses in his ears, whiskers, feathers, on his knees, face and stomach. So the turn him and out and let the others lick it off idea failed.

However he now has two manes... One that starts where it should comes half way down his neck then stops. 2 inches later mane number 2 starts..........

So now i have a moulting, hairy, molasses covered, mangy maned cart horse.
Oh and he's cut above his eye (one assumes in the same "game" that resulted in the loss of a huge chunk of his mane).

Not helped in comparrision to standing next to his gleaming, gorgeous dark bay brother who never is groomed and never has to be..

why can't i have a pretty pony who is always immaculate [sobs hysterically]

At least H will be caught - Her Dizzyness has decided that she can make me dizzy on the ground as well as when I'm riding.

You can join me in my retirement

Hovis is definitely trying to test you at the moment isn't he... Looking forward to his diary entry on Friday.

Ah you know you wouldn't swap your hairy bog pony for a fancy warmblood that spooks at its own shadow

Look on the bright side......he's not white...

Mine loves a good roll in the mud, gets his head right in there- his forelock has been known to resemble a unicorn horn caked in mud.

But ask him to walk through a slightly muddy puddle...think not....

Have you got a power-washer???

I think every substance known to man has managed to get on her!! Coupled with poo that sticks, yes sticks!!, to her tail!!! I now smell like a woman who has lived her life in a stable, and doesn't possess washing facilities!!!

Oh dear lord! Thank you so much for your post. I'm still stuck in the beastieless stage and hearing your trauma makes me much more cheerful! I don't think Hovis would fit in my back garden, otherwise I'd willingly take him off your hands!

Think he and Farra will do a duo of "I don't wanna be a show clydesdale"

At least he is not lame.....

Megatek the mane - soon will have it sprout, that damm Rex has chewed about 2" gap in Stinky mane - at least his is so long I can do a comb over when showing to hide it.

Farra and Hovis sound a perfect matched pair - dirty, smelly scruffy hairy huge beasts. Perhaps we could do an "alternative" showing pairs class.

Still quite hobbly but it improves a bit with a few paces, she seems to free up as she walks. She is happy to put all her weight on the leg - stood on three last night scratching her head with a hind so can't be that bad.

No heat, no swelling and when I press down, no reaction and I am still thinking she has tweaked a muscle when barrel racing with Stinky on Saturday, could have twisted herself when flying around on the spot.

She is walking faster and last night when told to get out of the strip back into the field did a few strides of trot. Seems as though she finds lifting it difficult as not raising it so much.

Stinky is enjoying being able to canter up and get a head start on dinner while she walks up carefully. Nothing wrong with her appetite.

Will see how she is tonight. I think the vet will just say give a few days and rest and see how she is. If not showing more improvement by Wednesday then will have him out just in case it is something more than a tweak.

Andy is more chilled about her - he says she is moving better and he is more inclined to panic than I am if anything is not right with his baby.

Apparently I can still take her to Royal London for the Heavy Classes - they don't have any restrictions on the heavies pre- qualifying, just turn up for the champ classes - she can also go in the rare breeds. Fancy taking Hovis - how far is Peterborough for you? For Rex, will have to wait and see how her recovery goes, but we do have until the 4th.

Try some neat shampoo on the sticky patches, without wetting the horse first. Work it in, rubbing it in well with your fingers, then rinse off. It helps dissolve oily things, so might work on molasses?
