I sold my Merc Sprinter for £6K. It was a V reg fitted with an Ifor Williams body and would take two 16hh TB types ok but more suited to the one horse owner really.
It was a tidy, well maintained box with no frills I'd say.
Basically, something no frills but tidy - I can vouch for this one having been mechanically sound (certainly was when we had it) and fairly low mileage. Drove very well, horses travelled well. Living functional and neat but not flash, horse partitions safe but not exactly gleaming. We put a new ramp on it before selling it too. As you can see, the paint job on the outside is nothing fancy, but it is very tidy.
well, you can't blame me for trying to find a new friendly home for 'big blue'! funny seeing pictures of it online - so many happy memories with that lorry!
We got 5k for our VW LT35 last October. This is a 3.5 tonne, 2 horse, side-loading lorry with no living space but does have overhead storage which can and has been used for sleeping!! Couldn't pull the skin off a rice pud with 2 horses in transit going up a hill and had a problem with 1st gear. Very neat, tidy little box, though, and easy to turn/whizz through lanes in. Also quite attractive as they go. Had no power steering and I think over 100k on the clock. The tax was going to run out a few weeks after it sold and the MOT had 5 months left on it. It had rubber floor which we had installed.
It was a G reg so when we sold it, it would have been 18 years old!
A mid-50s lady and her husband bought it, and I have only seen them around in it once since then (small town so would expect to see more of them). They had had horse lorries for years and loved our little lorry.
dont know what sort of thing you are after but i do know if a box (under your budget) that is sturdy, reliable & does the job. Friend of mine and she only selling it as given up horses
