Hi - I'm a long time lurker needing a bit of advice! I have a really nice 3.5tonne box. Well, it was really nice until the engine died! The quotes I'm getting to fix it are alarming, and I'm wondering about the feasability of swapping the body (which is a really nice racemaster one) onto a new chassis.

But I've no idea where to even start with this - can I put it on a different make/model of chassis (it's currently on an LT35) - possibly an uprated one so I can take two horses? Can anyone point me in the direction of some helpful resources or companies or anything?

And equally, if I'm crackers and there's no point trying, please tell me!

I don't know about doing it with a 3.5t lorry, I did swap a 7.5t body over to a new chassis and that was a good solution for us at the time.
Phone round some local horsebox places to see if it's do'able, or ask around who to use for their lorry repairs and see if any of them might be interested in doing it for you.
